32: The Societal Conditioning Pitting Women Against Each Other

Jennifer Reimer

If you've ever felt envy or resentment toward another woman in your workplace, you are among MANY. And, if you beat yourself up about it, thinking you should be supporting other women, I want you to know that it's not your fault.

There is a global and lively conversation about equity between men and women, races, and sexual identity, but no one is talking about equity between women.

In this conversation, we dive into ways workplaces, even those with good intentions, inadvertently cause a divide between women, and what women really want in workplaces.

We uncover ways society reinforces inequality - not just gender inequality, but also inequality between women. What ends up happening is, that instead of women standing together, they feel jealous of each other.

Our conversation is sure to turn your women's equality paradigms upside-down. At the end, we'll suggest some actions that will incite real change in women's equity.

This episode was first published on the Awakening Worth podcast with Sheri Johnson, my sister, with me as a guest on International Women's Day. I'm re-publishing it here because the issues we talk about are so rampant in the business world (and not just corporate workplaces), and it's time we create a movement to shift the paradigm.
